I’ve been reading in Psalm 18 and 19 the last few days, rejoicing over the picture of God that I see. He is a strong Deliverer, a marvelous Rescuer, a reliable Defender, a faithful Savior, a perfect Shield, a great Supporter, and many more. What have you learned about God in reading the Bible this year? Are you applying it in your life?
David’s response to the greatness of God was to SING. In Psalm 18:49 he says,
For this I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations,
and sing to your name.
I am getting ready for a short-term mission trip. Getting prepared to SING of God’s awesome Name AMONG THE NATIONS! Singing as I go, declaring His glory and fame! I may be calling out for rescue in difficult circumstances, as we head to the mountainous jungles of the northern Philippines. There are dangers. Many dangers. But God is preparing the way, and we have complete trust in His sovereign goodness.
Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
‘Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
When we’ve been here ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun.
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’ve first begun.
