God is sovereign and His Spirit leads us to the right opportunities for ministry. We see this in Acts 16:6-10….
And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them. So, passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” And when Paul had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. —Acts 16:7-10 ESV
This Macedonian call did not come to people who were sitting around doing nothing; it came to men who were already actively serving the Lord. An analogy might be driving a car: you can’t sit in your garage turning the steering wheel of your car and expect to go anywhere. If your car isn’t moving, you won’t arrive at your destination.
In what ways are you serving Jesus? Pray for God’s direction for ways he might want to redirect you. Be open to his call.
