Now Simon’s mother-in-law lay ill with a fever, and immediately they told him about her. And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them. Mark 1:30-31
Peter’s mother in law has a divine encounter with Jesus. She is cured from a fever immediately. As a mom myself, I know what it is like to care for someone with a fever, and I know what it is like to fight a fever, whether brought on by a virus or some other bacterial illness. Once the fever has run its course and the body, by God’s AMAZING design, has fought off the infection, we are generally very tired, tired from being sick. But what does Peter’s mother-in-law do? She gets up, and not only welcomes Jesus into her home, but also serves her guests. Amazing! This would probably mean cooking, cleaning and everything associated with having company. If male scholars don’t see a miracle here, ask a mom. Most moms certainly can appreciate that a miracle has truly happened!
