One of the benefits of a Bible reading plans that draws from different sections of the Bible each day is that there are times when you are struck with similarities between passages. Today is one of those days.
In Matthew 1 yesterday, we read that Mary was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. We just celebrated the birth of Jesus last month.
The second chapter of Acts contains the fulfillment of a similar promise.
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:1-4 ESV)
The Holy Spirit came and the church, the mystical body of CHRIST was born!
