Enjoy the Giver, not just His gifts

There is an evil that I have seen under the sun, and it lies heavy on mankind:  a man to whom God gives wealth, possessions, and honor, so that he lacks nothing of all that he desires, yet God does not give him power to enjoy them, but a stranger enjoys them. This is vanity; it is a grievous evil. Ecclesiastes 6:1-2

Warren Wiersbe, in the Wiersbe Bible Commentary on Ecclesiastes 6 “Is Life a Dead End Street?”

Nobody can truly enjoy the gifts of God apart from the God who gives the gifts.  To enjoy gifts without the Giver is idolotry, and this can never satisfy the human heart. Enjoyment without God is merely entertainment, and it doesn’t satisfy. But enjoyment with God is enrichment and it brings true joy and satisfaction.
