Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;
your judgments are like the great deep;
man and beast you save, O Lord.
How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
Psalm 36 dovetails with our reading from Exodus 34 today, and we read more about the steadfast love, boundless and free, the wonderful mercy of God. Here are Charles H. Spurgeon’s comments on Psalm 36:5 from the Treasury of David:
Divine mercy abides in its vastness of expanse, and matchless patience, all unaltered by the rebellions of man. When we can measure the heavens, then shall we bound the mercy of the Lord.
